Drag Sheets

Stacy here today to bring you a tip for handling your favorite go-to elements. A while back I saw a tutorial about making "drag sheets" with an alpha that is available as individual pngs.  The idea was to make it easier to drag the letters into your working space without having to open each one individually.  I didn't figure it would help me much with my alphas, but I could see the possibilities with other elements that I love and use a lot.

I think Ramona has some of the best stitching and such a huge variety of string that I find myself constantly searching my Memory Clips kits to find the exact string or stitching I want to use on a layout. I decided to make a drag sheet for stitching and one for string. That way, when I need string or stitching and the kit I'm using doesn't have any, I can go to my drag sheets rather than searching each time.

Here's how to make one.  Open a new blank file. Bring in the string you want from a kit, keep it at full size.  And make sure the layer is labeled with the correct kit, so you can give proper credit when uploading to the galleries.  Repeat until you have all the elements you want on your drag sheet.

Save this as a .tif or .psd file to preserve the layers. Then, when you need a piece of string for your layout you just open this file up, choose your string, drag it over to your layout and recolor if necessary.  Easy-peasy!!  So much quicker than searching through every kit to find just the piece of string that works :)

And here is a string that I want on my drag sheet...available in today's freebie download!

Thanks for the idea of a drag sheet! I do like using the alpha sheets. Another idea for those folks who can't use a psd or tiff file, I copied my favorite flowers to another folder within my scrapping folder and labeled it Favorite Flowers. Then when I need a different style of flower, I go there first instead of running a search for "flower" that brings up 3,000 of them in Windows. Thanks for today's goodies.
