Teaching Gratitude

How do you teach gratitude to your children?  I would love ideas!  I think one of the best ways is through example, but that isn't always an easy one to see!  I've never been very good at making my kids write thank you cards (intent is always there, just don't get it done!) and I think this would be another great way.

Yesterday was a busy day!  I had a doctor appointment in the morning and then dashed over to Abby's school to watch their Shakespeare play.  It was so cute!  In the afternoon, by the time I finished up carpool, it was time to take Chipper to voice lessons and then quickly feed the kids.  It was respite night at Sam's school, which means that an amazing group of young people volunteered to come and watch all the kids and their siblings.  I dropped off my four youngest and went out to dinner with my two older boys!   John is out of town for work, so I just enjoyed the two hours with my 14 and 12 year old.  It was a lot of fun! I'm so glad they still enjoy hanging out with me.

Also, I wanted to mention that the free templates this month will only be available for download through the 30th of this month.  After that, I will be deactivating the links and retiring them.  So, let your friends know to grab them now!!  I have lots of fun things planned for December.  The downloads from October will still be available, but just the full templates are only good for this month only!

Thank you so much for sharing, I have loved the templates as well as the daily journal prompts. One of my children is a pessemist. He see's everything negatively even if its a good thing. I have decided to have a place for him to write each day something that he is grateful for or something good that happened during the day so that maybe he can start to see things from a different perspective.

I love thank you notes, and try to make my children write them as often as possible.

One other thing we started this year was each kid had their own gratitude journal. I found some really cheap little notebooks for 94 cents at Wal-mart. Every night we encourage them to write something down that they are thankful for. Keric is obviously too little to write, so Chris and I write for him. His are always so funny because he is thankful for such simple and cute things. Some of them are repeats, but that's ok...he's only 3. I also saw a cute idea on Pintrest about a Thankful tree. They had taken a tree branch and each night at the dinner table wrote something they were thankful for and hung it on the tree for that day. I guess it's easy to come up with ideas during the month of November, but I am going to try to encourage my kids to continue with their gratitude journal throught the rest of the year. Thank you so much for your wonderful templates!
